So whether you are cleaning your house yourself or hiring out the work to a house cleaner or housekeeper, it is always a good idea to have a detailed list! This way nothing gets missed and you are satisfied with what has been done every time!
Spring Cleaning Checklist
- Organize closets and drawers: kitchen, closets, bathroom, laundry room, pantry
- Donate or discard items you no longer need.
- Organize closets and drawers with clear bins (more bins) and tags for finding things easier!
- Dust all surfaces: shelves, furniture, fans, baseboards, any decorative wall molding or window molding, musical instruments, for example- the piano, and light fixtures.
- Consider using vacuum attachment and vacuuming couch and mattress as well as any upholstered chairs. (mattress vacuum)
- Wipe down countertops, tables, chairs, doors, and other frequently touched areas.
- Clean windows inside and out. This includes windows on doors.
- Wash or dust window blinds and curtains.
- Vacuum and/or mop all floors.
- Consider deep cleaning carpets or rugs.
- Spot clean baseboards with eraser cleaning sponges
- Clean and disinfect countertops and backsplash.
- Wipe down light fixtures
- Scrub sinks
- Wipe down cabinets
- Wipe down appliances, inside and out. Including fridge, microwave, toaster and coffee machine
- Empty and clean the refrigerator and freezer.
- Take out trash
- Refill soap dispensers
- Scrub and disinfect surfaces, including countertops and sinks.
- Vacuum and clean floors
- Clean the shower/tub and toilet thoroughly.
- Wash shower curtains or replace liners.
- Clean glass and mirrors
- Take out trash
- Refresh linens
- Refill soap dispensers
- Rotate and flip mattresses.
- Launder bedding, including pillows and mattress covers.
- Make bed
- Vacuum/clean floors & dust (already included above)
- Wipe down dressers and side tables
- Vacuum or wash curtains and drapes according to care instructions.
- Change air filters.
- Dust vents and clean ducts if necessary.
- Clean patio furniture.
- Sweep and wash outdoor spaces like decks or balconies.
- Test and replace batteries in smoke detectors.
- Wipe down light switches and doorknobs.
- Check expiration dates in the pantry.
